With a lot of teams in the West playing some great basketball like the Lakers, Spurs, Hornets, Warriors, Dallas and Phoenix, who will come out on top?

I would think the San Antonio Spurs is the team to beat in the west in the coming playoffs. Their line up from last season is intact so that would make them hard to beat.

I would have to agree, as painful as it is as an avid Lakers fan and Spurs hater, but they are always tough to beat in the playoffs

The Lakers and Spurs are good, but I would have to go with the run and gun in Phoenix. Steve Nash has them playing great team basketball again and the addition of Grant Hill may have been the key ingredient to take them to the promise land and past these two teams.

This is going to sound funny, but I didn't know New Orleans had a team. Up here in NH I never hear about them.

So I guess they can't be the best in West. Hehe

I think the Spurs are definitely the best team in the West, they have the best overall record in the West, and are defending champions, I think they will be the best, until someone knocks them out of the playoffs.

As shown in the past, Phoenix cannot matched up to the likes of the Spurs and even Detroit. Their playing style is not suited to beat the playing styles of these teams. And I doubt if they can beat the Lakers again in the playoffs this year.

True, Phoenix couldn't match those two, but there is always a first time and if they are ever gonna do it with Steve Nash running the show, it will be this season.

Yup. Lakers are now in the NBA finals. Phoenix and Dallas will have busy offseasons -- hiring new coaches and trading players, perhaps. Lakers will even be stronger next year with Andrew Bynum in the mix.

It's over for the Spurs for now... Only for now. They are the only team in the last 10 years who have remained consistent and on top of their game. They'll be hungry next year. They'll be back. I think the Lakers are just one hit wonders.

The HOrnets will be the best in the West next year. CP3 will even be better in only his fourth year. GO CHris Paul.

I think the Hornets will be right up there near the top, but with the Lakers getting Andrew Bynum back, I don't see anyone stopping them for the next couple of seasons until Kobe's skills start declining.

Yes, the Lakers will be intact next season. Then when Bynum comes back, it will be Odom, Gasol and Bynum in the front court. WOW! We'll have radmanovic, vujajic, farmar -- all shooters -- at the bench. Wow wow wow!
